Last night I went to see Swan Lake ballet by the Moscow City Ballet and Bath Theatre Royal. Having never seen a ballet before I had been looking forward to this experience.
We entered the theatre, got our drinks and programmes and took our seats. The lights dimmed and the full orchestra sprang into action beneath the stage filling the theatre with Tchaikovsky’s music. The curtain rose and the stage was filled with ballet dancers in extravagant costumes in reds, blues, pinks, purples whites and blacks. Skirts swirled as they pirouetted and their feet moved so fast and so delicately that they were memorising. The background scenery was beautiful when depicting the inside of a castle with a large stain glass window set in stone blocks or the lake where the swan sprang and twirled about the stage, toes on perfect points.
It was a beautiful, unforgettable experience that I would definitely like to repeat in the future.
